Location: Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) Classroom

Presented by Dr. James Maiello, Associate Professor of Musicology, University of Manitoba Desautels Faculty of Music

This presentation will situate the opera and its music within the broader musical landscape of the period and in the cultural milieu of 19th-century Romanticism. Rossini’s opera will be examined as part of the European fairy tale tradition and as a cornerstone of the bel canto repertoire.
