Understanding the Music: The Elixir of Love Saturday, October 5, 1:00 pm (doors open at 12:30 pm) Location: Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Classroom 85 Israel Asper Way Presenter: Dr. Colette Simonot-Maiello, Associate Professor of Musicology, Desautels Faculty of Music, University of Manitoba In this presentation, Dr. Simonot-Maiello will discuss the music of Donizetti's famous comedy as exemplary of the new bel canto style of singing that grew to popularity in Italy in the 1830s.
